Joseph Cardinal Tobin, C.Ss.R., Archbishop of Newark, NJ

August 5, 1973: professed vows as a member of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (the Redemptorists).  June 1, 1978: ordination to priesthood. June 1979 – July 1984: associate pastor, Holy Redeemer Parish, Detroit MI;  Official in the metropolitan tribunal (1980-90).  July 1984 – July 1990: pastor, Holy Redeemer, Detroit MI. July 1990 – October 1991: pastor, St. Alphonsus, Chicago IL. Canon Law Society of America, member since 1985.  Responsibilities in the Redemptorist Congregation: 1991-1997: General Consultor (Rome).  1997-2009: Superior General (Rome) October 9, 2010: ordination to episcopate. October 18, 2012: named by Pope Benedict XVI as Archbishop of Indianapolis. December 2016: Pope Francis named Joseph Cardinal Tobin as the sixth Archbishop of Newark, New Jersey.

Tony and Heidi Battle, Bandera TX.

Members of the For Better and For Ever ™ Resource Team since 2008.

Married 2003 and have a daughter, Jessi, and a son, Lake.  They participated in the For Better & For Ever ™ program to prepare for their marriage and were married by Father Rob Ruhnke.

They have begun to sponsor couples in their area and look forward to the opportunity to help other couples in their new journey.

Tony is the South Texas Division Manager for Byrne Construction Services-Tony is now running the Byrne South Texas office which includes overseeing 15+ million dollar projects.  He is very involved in the Accounting and Human Resources departments for his office.  Tony also is a member of  many organizations in Construction and serves on the Board as the youngest board member of the American General Contractors Association.  The AGC is also working on defining what boards and committees should look like and how to optimally run a Nonprofit organization.

Maria T. Flores, CCVI, Ph.D. / San Antonio TX

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor.

Approved Clinical Supervisor for AAMFT, LMFT and LPC Psychotherapist in the State of Texas Dr. Flores is the Director of the Marriage and Family Institute of San Antonio. Her specific responsibility on the Resource Team is as a Consultant.

Mike and Terrie Brophy / Sugar Land TX

Consultants to Resource Team.

They are an InterChurch couple and both them were previously married, so they bring those insights to our Team.

In addition, they have experience of going through the Catholic Church annulment process (in dealing with previous marriages).

They also have lived the experience of establishing a Stepfamily when they married.

Charley and Michelle Matt / San Antonio TX

Consultants to Resource Team.

Charley and Michelle Matt were married in 2010 and have been involved with For Better and For Ever ™ marriage preparation ministry ever since.  They both had prior marriages and went through the annulment process together.  They have twin sons and a daughter.

Michelle has been a flight attendant with Southwest Airlines since 1988.  Nowadays she spends more time taking care of their daughter, working in Charley’s office and volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for neglected and abused children.

Charley has been a financial advisor with his own firm, Moss & Matt, since 1993.  He earned M.A. & S.T.B. degrees in theology from the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium) which he uses to assist the Archdiocese of San Antonio in liturgical formation and as an adjunct instructor.
