Engagement is the process of making a final decision about whether to
exchange the vows of Christian marriage. It is fitting to formalize your
engagement as special and sacred by creating together a Pre Marital Covenant;
and by celebrating a Blessing of Engaged Couple by which you pray for God’s
guidance and ask the support of family and friends and your faith community.
A Pre Marital Covenant is a spiritual statement that the two of you agree to sign. This covenant is very personal. You may ~ or perhaps not ~ choose to share it with others. See Our Pre Marital Covenant for an example that you can copy and use as it is, or re-write as you judge best.
The Blessing For Engaged Couple can be used to celebrate your Pre Marital Covenant (if you chose to create one) and/or the official beginning of you Engagement. It could be done in the home of one of your families, it could also be done in a church. The "leader" could be a parent, a special friend or the pastor.
