Wonderful News:

Protestant Spanish edThe Christian (Protestant) edition is now available in Spanish...as well as English!

During the NARME (National Association for Relationship & Marriage Education) Conference in Houston TX a number of folks asked me to provide a Spanish translation of the Christian (Protestant) edition of For Better and For Ever.  So we started on the project in August and it was printed in December 2011.

Please spread the word about this to folks ~ especially Protestant clergy ~ you may know.

The importance of Follow-up beyond the wedding ceremony.

Angela and DeweyAngela & Dewey Angelloz of St. Aloysius in Baton Rouge asked me to make a special effort to emphasize the value of sponsor couples doing follow-up beyond the wedding.  Though the text of For Better and For Ever includes questions for dialogue "3 months and 6 months into Christian Marriage" this has become a much more important topic whenever I train new sponsor couples or provide enrichment for experienced sponsor couples.

I am convinced that if sponsor couples follow-up with couples they sponsor during the first year or so of their marriage we will be the "healthy marriage insurance policy" that will benefit the newly married couple....and ~ eventually ~ their children and grandchildren.

You don't actually have to get together face to face to do this follow-up.  Everyone is connected to a cell phone these days.  It only takes a minute to call him or her and ask the simple question: "So how is it going with the two of you?"  Then LISTEN.  (It may not seem such a big question, but coming from YOU, their sponsor couple, makes all the difference.)

However, we have to prove this.  I need evidence I can take to leadership people and bishops so they will understand why it is so important to support your efforts to minister to the couples you have sponsored, and encourage the use of sponsor couples where they are not yet being used.
