is the 1st state to lower the marriage license fee for couples who take
part in an approved marriage preparation program.

Texas now encourages
couples to take part in a marriage preparation course because evidence
indicates that couples who take such courses do better in establishing and sustaining life long marriage.
Couples who complete a state approved class will save $60 on their marriage
license. For Better and For Ever is one
of the approved programs.
After completing the sessions with your sponsor couple:
1 - Obtain the
Certificate of Completion that you can take to your county clerk
to save $60 on a marriage license. [Your sponsor couple should know
how to get this for you; if not call Fr. Ruhnke at 210-534-1129.] And you won’t have to wait 72 hours to
be married. The waiting period is waived for couples who complete the course.
