The California Healthy Marriages Coalition
has graciously agreed to include For Better and For Ever in the list
of marriage preparation programs they are evaluating for quality and effectiveness.
The process will include:
1 - A “Pretest” survey
which the Sponsor Couple will give to the engaged couple on their first
meeting with the engaged couple.
2 - A “Post Test”
survey which the Sponsor Couple will give to the engaged couple on their
last meeting with the couple before the wedding. You will, of
course, continue to meet with them after they are married, but this “Post
Test” is to be done before the couple’s wedding.
Two additional “follow-up” surveys which will be done by the California
Healthy Marriages team, but you will not be involved in this part of the
evaluation process. When you give them the “Post Test” the couple
will self address follow-up envelopes that the California Healthy Marriages
Coalition will use to contact them directly after they are married.
Here is what
you ~ the Sponsor/Mentor Couple ~ need to do:
Step One: As soon as you are given the name of the couple you are going to sponsor (well before your first meeting with them because you must send the information to California at least 3 weeks prior to your first meeting with the engaged couple), fill out the form (see Evaluation Form link above) so that Alison Doucette can mail you the Pre Test form in time for your first meeting with your couple.
Step Two:
Give the Pretest to the engaged couple the first time you meet with them
(before you begin your first session.)
You can plan for them to do that the first time you meet, or you might plan
a brief “get to know you” meeting (and give them the “Pretest” then) before
the first formal meeting in your home. In selecting the date when
you will need the “Post Test” mailed to you, make your best guess so that
you will be able to give them the Post Test at the end of your final session
before the wedding. If these directions are not clear enough ~
call Alison at (951) 213-6637.
NOTE: These forms are available to Sponsors/Mentors in continental USA,
not Canada or Guam or Hawaii.
Step Three: Give the Post Test to the couple at the end of your final session with the couple before their wedding. You will be doing follow-up with the couple after they are married, but the Post Test is given to them prior to their wedding date. The California Healthy Marriages Coalition will follow-up with 2 additional surveys, but they will send them directly to the newly married couple (not to the sponsor couple).
Hope this is clear enough; to sent the information to
California go to this link >>>
